Constitutions are a vital tool in advancing the legal order of indigenous peoples, laying the foundation for self-governance and encapsulating fundamental laws and frameworks. They not only codify age-old traditions and customs but also define governmental structures, legal powers, and citizens’ rights. ConstitutionProject.net acts as an online engagement and resource hub for the multi-year process of establishing a Squamish Nation Constitution.

“The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw S7ulh kwis Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation Constitution) Project is an opportunity to look forward and build our future together. How? By setting out who we are as a Nation and what we stand for as Sḵwx̱wú7mesh people. The Squamish Nation Constitution will guide our members, our decision-makers, and our leaders to shape everything we do as a Nation.”

It has been an immense honour to support this important endeavour, and we’re thankful to have had the opportunity to collaborate with such an engaged and thoughtful project team.
