Occupying the formerly vacant and forgotten area underneath Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway, The Bentway is an expanding public space and vital connector for the growing urban communities that surround it. Part cultural hub, part outdoor art gallery, the Bentway team curates year-round programming, public art, and cultural experiences. By nurturing partnerships between the City of Toronto, residents, supporters, artists, city-builders and visionaries, The Bentway serves as a cultural catalyst, leading a creative movement to reimagine the possibilities of urban space.

We worked closely with The Bentway to design and develop a website that acts as a central hub and archive for its programming, exhibitions, and community initiatives. Built on an accessible, flexible WordPress foundation, the site features reusable, customisable components that adapt to a wide variety of needs — from highlighting seasonal installations to promoting large-scale public events. The structure supports both immediate publishing needs and long-term growth, with an architecture that can easily accommodate new types of content and future integrations. The platform reflects The Bentway’s refreshed visual identity, meets WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards, and provides an intuitive editing experience for staff managing a constantly evolving mix of content.
